A creative process is often very challenging, and for me, monsterly voices can sneak up and undermine my creative confidence. To silence these self doubts, I have to remind myself over and over again ALL the good advice given to me by friends, peers and teachers.
The illustration originated as a fast sketch on my wall, as a quick reminder with all sorts of oneliners on the sides. I kept coming back to the sketch, feeling that there was something there. I was also struggling with my creative voice at that moment. I pushed through the doubt and went for it in black and white, ink and pencil. Only using things that felt good. The end result made me really proud.
The original drawing 'Notes to myself' is without text. The drawing alone is a reminder enough for me. Later I made the animated gif and added some of the good advice given to me.
