Queen Elisabeth I
The defeat of the Spanish Armada

When my creativity runs out - which it does - it's like any other skill, some days are easy peasy, some days it's hard work - on those days I give myself the prompt 'portrait' to start an idea. A portrait of a season, a portrait of a fish, a portrait of my street, a portrait of my shoes... And so on and so on. Usually I get fired up.  Yet, when all attempts are futile, I'll start with an actual portrait of someone. Strong women are my favourite. So here's to the real iron lady, Queen Elisabeth I and the defeat of the Spanish Armada 1588.
